Danny regained her balance by grabbing the back of Austin's shirt and came face-to-face with one of the most beautiful women she'd ever clapped eyes on. With a perfect chin perched on Austin's shoulder, the woman's arresting green eyes shot pure venom when she noticed Danny's hands on Austin.

Well, now, wasn't this interesting? Danny thought with a mental grin. Austin had his hands full and the she-devil was warning Danny off with a nasty look. Damn, the woman really shouldn't piss her off like that. Not that she wanted Boy Scout for herself, well, maybe a little, but that was no excuse to be rude.

Behind her, Barkley waited patiently. Danny dropped a hand and issued a command. A scream loud enough to wake the dead vibrated through pink-tinted lips after Barkley circled Danny and loosely locked his teeth on Miss Prissy's dainty wrist.

The woman flayed in Austin's arms like a dying fish. Danny stepped back to enjoy the show. It took Austin a few seconds to figure out what was happening. His head whipped from Barkley's salivating mouth, clamped on the woman's wrist, then back to Danny.

"Call him off, Danny, or so help me, I'll tan your hide."

With a negligent wave of her hand, Barkley dropped his prey. Sheer amazement crawled over Danny as the woman milked the situation for all it was worth by plastering herself onto the front of Austin like Saran wrap. It was disgusting.

A long, perfectly painted talon arched toward Danny. "Austin, she did that on purpose," the she-devil complained in a sulky voice. She burrowed her blonde head deeper into his shoulder and blubbered on. "That beast could have ruined my career had he left teeth marks on my poor wrist.
